Preparation

We have now reached the point at which planning is converted into reality. All the decisions made and agreements reached now have to be put into action. This stage marks the last realistic opportunity to make further changes to the specification and aims of the project without causing major problems.

The key activities going on at stage will include the following:

• Collection of data for the pilot site (or all sites if there is no pilot)
• Configuration of data as agreed
• Customization and testing of software in line with specification requirements
• Development and testing of interfaces to other systems
• Incorporation of changes into the system by means of the agreed change management process
• Preparation of Acceptance tests
• Preparation and approval of working procedures
• Installation and testing of software at the pilot site and training location
• Training of Super-users
• Training of other Pilot users

As a rule Engica will take responsibility for software development but we are capable of managing most of the preparation process for you. We have many experienced trainers with maintenance backgrounds who can show your users how to use the software in courses tailored to your requirements. We also have the experience to develop procedures that will reflect reality rather than describing idealized processes that your staff don't and never will work to. Simplicity is the key.

Communication is even more important during the preparation stage. You will need to establish methods for letting your people know about successes and progress on the project. It means everyone will know what is going on and understand how and when they will become involved. We will also want to keep regular communication with you to maintain the understanding established at the project launch meeting.

The time has now arrived to start the Pilot stage and prove the system.
